6. San Antonio TX
Our last warm spring break destination that’s rich in Texas history happens to be San Antonio.
Clear back in 1836, this is the city where the Texian army defended the Alamo, a Spanish Mission, against General Santa Anna and his Mexican army.
Frontiersman Davy Crockett, Colonel William B. Travis, and James Bowie were among the men that courageously fought and died trying to ward off their enemy. This was also the turning point in the Texas Revolution, where “Remember the Alamo” became their battle cry.
The San Antonio Missions National Historical Park are five churches that were built back in the 1700s that were used as missions to convert the locals to the catholic church. Four of those besides the Alamo are still active parishes today.
You’ll appreciate the architecture and how well these buildings have been preserved.
Enjoy America’s number one riverwalk by strolling down San Antonio’s River Walk, that is home to numerous cafes, shops, and restaurants with outdoor dining areas that enjoy the scenery.
