We have traveled to Disney world almost every year since my kids were young. Disney has hotels for every budget and preference. The wonder in their eyes and excitement is hard to beat. Meeting princesses, pirates and all their favorite characters are no longer just dreams.
Disney is great at offering hotels to fit every family and every budget. We have our favorites, but like to try different hotels. Each hotel has it’s own personality. It just depends on what you are looking for, and what’s important to your family.
Disney’s Wilderness Lodge –Deluxe Walt Disney World Hotel
This is one of our favorite places to stay. We keep coming back to it over and over. It’s an AAA four diamond resort in Disney’s deluxe collection of resorts. You can feel the luxury side of the resort in every way.
The resort is modeled after the Old Faithful Inn at Yellowstone National Park. Other National Parks are represented around the resort as well.
Wilderness Lodge Rooms
The standard room has 2 queen beds, which is plenty of room for our family of 4. The Wilderness Lodge is the least expensive option in the deluxe resort category of Disney hotels.
Although the wilderness theme is carried throughout the room, Disney characters are not obvious in the decor. I love the sophisticated nature décor, and the kids like the bears found around the room.
Wilderness Lodge Pool
The Copper Creek Spring pool is heated for year round use. If it gets really chilly, there are 2 hot tubs to use as well. A 67-foot waterslide that comes down from the boulders around the pool entertains the kids for hours.
They have so much fun on this slide! Towels are provided for guests to use, so no need to pack bulky beach towels.
Wilderness Lodge Activities
Watch movies under the stars. On the shore of the sandy beach by the lake, the resort shows Disney movies once the sun goes down. Pool lounge chairs are available to sit back relax and watch the show. The kids thought it was great to watch the movie outside under the stars.
Another great activity at the Wilderness Lodge is watching the lighted parade go across the lake. It’s technically called the electrical water parade. Sea creatures sail across the lake, and it’s so fun! We loved every minute of it.
The green sea monster leads the way with its shining lights. The music and parade last about 15 minutes. Just walk to the beach and shoreline at the Wilderness lodge to view the parade.
Wilderness Lodge Transportation
The Disney bus system can take you straight to any park at Walt Disney World. At the Wilderness Lodge you also have the option to take a boat on two water launch routes.
The first route takes guests directly to the Magic Kingdom. The second route stops at Fort Wilderness Campground and the Contemporary Resort.

Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort — Moderate Walt Disney World Hotel
The Caribbean Beach Resort is a moderate hotel with a laid back beach vibe. It feels like you are on one of the Caribbean Islands.
The resort represents five islands. They are Barbados, Jamaica, Martinique, Trinidad, and Aruba. Luckily you don’t have to travel to all those islands to feel the vibe of the Caribbean.
Caribbean Beach Resort Rooms
The rooms have the option of either a standard room or a pirate themed room. We chose the pirate themed room, and the kids loved it! Disney did a great job.
The pirate rooms do have 2 double beds instead of the standard rooms have 2 queen beds. All rooms have a mini fridge available for guests use.
Keeping with the theme, the beds looked like pirate ships. The bed light lanterns and pirate divider curtain kept with the theme. We felt just like Captain Jack Sparrow sleeping in our pirate room.
Caribbean Beach Resort Food
There are several restaurants at the resort. Centertown Market is the main dining area, and located just off the lobby.
The resort is a bit spread out, so getting to the food court and market was a walk. The food was good with lots of options. Both a grab and go and quick service ordering were available.
If your family is too tired to venture out, pizza delivery is an option to be sent directly to your resort room door.
Caribbean Beach Resort Pool
There are 5 pools at the resort. Open hours are from 7am-12am leaving plenty of time to swim.
One pool in each area, but the main pool is where we spent most of our pool time. It’s a Spanish fortress theme pool. Zero entry, 2 great slides, and water spraying cannons are just some of the fun features of the main Fuentes del Morro pool. It’s heated year round swimming.
For little ones, there is a great shipwrecked play area. All kids are 48” and under in this area and can splash around. A hot tub is available for both kids and adults to relax after a long day on your feet at the parks.
Caribbean Beach Resort Transportation
Taking the Disney bus to the parks was pretty easy. They go to each park, and come around often.
Since the resort is spread out, there are quite a few bus stops for picks up and drop offs to the parks. This make for a little bit longer bus ride each time.
The new Disney Skyliner transportation option is now open. This takes Caribbean Beach Resort guests straight to Hollywood Studios on a gondola. An option to take this to Epcot is available as well, but there is one stop along the way.

Disney’s All-Star Movies — Value Walt Disney World Hotel
The All-Star Movies resort is great for the budget. The movie theme is focused on Toy Story, Fantasia and 101 Dalmatians.
It’s considered part of the value category in the Disney hotels. It is a more basic hotel, but still up to all Disney standards.
All-Star Movies Rooms
Our room had 2 double beds in a standard room. The rooms are not technically theme rooms, but have a feel for the Disney movies with pictures and decorations.
Although the room was very clean, it does feel a bit more basic than the moderate or luxury rooms.
All-Star Movies Pool
The Fantasia themed pool is great for all kids, and little ones can play in the kiddie area. The value resort does not have a hot tub or slides in the pool area.
However, the pool is heated for a consistent year round temperature.
All-Star Movies Food
The food court has 5 themes for a variety of options. This makes everyone in the family happy. Pizza delivery is also available to your resort room if you don’t have the energy to go out.
All-Star Movies Transportation
The bus transportation is the only option from this resort. We waited at specific bus stops for each park. It was easy to find, and buses came regularly. There was a bit longer wait for the buses, than with the other properties.
