I’m not a vegan, but I know a lot of families have food allergies or live a vegan or vegetarian lifestyle.

So, I consulted one of my vegan blogger friends to come up with a list of the best options for people wanting to eat vegan food at Walt Disney World.

Vacationing while vegan can be challenging but thankfully, destinations are beginning to understand the importance of accommodating special dietary needs.

Walt Disney World is one such vacation destination that has really stepped up their game in terms of plant-based options offered.

In years past, plant-based diners at Walt Disney World would have to consult with a chef or server at each resort or restaurant within the parks to determine which items were vegan.

To an extent, that is still the case but vegan options and special menus are slowly being incorporated into the mainstream offerings.

Here are some tried and true vegan food that can be found at Walt Disney Resort. The Best Vegan Food at Walt Disney World featured by top US Disney blogger, Marcie and the Mouse | Looking for vegan restaurants at Walt Disney World? Sunshine Seasons at the Land Pavilion in EPCOT

Sunshine Seasons is well-known for its vegan-friendly offerings.

Prepared foods and pre-packaged meals like Tabouli Pinwheels, Veggie Sushi and Veggie Wraps are great for a quick grab-and-go meal between Fast Passes.

Seasons also serves a Vegetarian Entree that includes tabouli and couscous served with pita bread and two types of hummus.

Another plant-based option at Sunshine Seasons is the Gardein Chick’n Stir Fry served with rice.

Le Cellier at Epcot

Honorable mention goes to the Steamed Asian Dumplings from Le Cellier at Epcot. These dumplings are filled with plant-based meat and served with bok choy, Chinese long beans, red pepers and radish in a delicious Asian soup broth.

Hollywood Studios – 50’s Prime Time Cafe

Recently, the 50’s Prime Time Cafe added a vegan menu item.

Cousin Harold’s Plant-Based entree includes kale, northern beans with tomato, onion and mushroom sauce.

Served over polenta and topped with ricotta made from tofu, this is a promising comfort-food option.

The restaurant also serves plant-based vegan apple crisp with vegan ice cream for dessert.

Docking Bay 7 Food & Cargo at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

Of course, I have to mention vegan food in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge because it’s the newest area of Walt Disney World.

Docking Bay 7 Food & Cargo offers a Felucian Garden Spread, which is made with plant-based “kefta,” herb hummus, tomato-cucumber relish and pita.

They also offer a Ithorian Garden Loaf, which is a plant-based “meatloaf” dish served with roasted vegetable mash, seasonal vegetables and mushroom sauce.

Also, while you’re at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, try a blue or green milk! It’s also plant-based and completely vegan!

Sanaa at Animal Kingdom Lodge Vegan-Friendly Bread Service

If there is one thing guests to Sanaa shouldn’t miss is the bread service.

Walt Disney World offers a gluten-free naan or roti in place of the regular naan for plant-based diners.

The Indian-Style Bread Service comes with naan and nine dipping sauces.

Roasted red pepper hummus, mango chutney, spicy jalapeno-lime pickle, garlic pickle, red chili sambal, coriander chutney, tamarind chutney, tomato-date jam, and cucumber riata are served alongside the naan.

All of these, with the exception of the riata,  which is made with yogurt, are vegan. It is possible to double-up on one of the others, the garlic pickle comes highly recommended!

Satu’li Canteen

If you’re heading inside Disney’s Animal Kingdom, head to Satu’li Canteen and try their Chili-Spiced Crispy Tofu Bowl. It features crispy tofu, seasoned with chili-spice and topped with a crunchy vegetable slaw, boba balls and your choice of base and sauce.

Walt Disney World Vegan Quick-Service Favorites

Sometimes you don’t want a sit-down meal when you’re in the parks.

For those times, Quick Service dining wins out over Table Service.

There are some plant-based vegan favorites at Walt Disney World that vegans rely on for quick convenience.

In Magic Kingdom at Liberty Tree Inn, the Vegetarian Burger on a brioche bun is completely vegan. Yes, even the bun!

At Animal Kingdom, the Satu’li Canteen offers a Chili-Spiced Crispy Fried Tofu Bowl that has become a favorite.

At Disney Springs, the Erin McKenna bakery is completely gluten-free and vegan.

California Grill Plant-Based Unplugged Menu at Contemporary Resort

One of the most popular vegan-friendly options at Walt Disney World comes from California Grill at the Contemporary Resort.

The Vegetarian/Vegan Unplugged Menu lets guests choose four items from the six vegan options on the menu to make one full plant-based entree.

With the entree, comes a vegan sourdough bread and sundried tomato dipping oil.

The options include a crispy tofu steak served with rice, edamame, quinoa and oil, a vegan roll with jicama, avocado, quinoa, and tofu or pho with veggies, rice noodles, and broth.

Vegan fried rice, black truffle salsa or vegan pizza topped with pears, roasted garlic, fennel, and sweet onion and olives, basil and arugula, round out the plant-based choices.

Magic Kingdom Plant-Based Cuisine Guide

Finding plant-based meals at Magic Kingdom became considerably easier in 2019.

The Disney Plant-Based Cuisine Guide is Walt Disney World’s first-ever guide to vegan meals throughout Magic Kingdom.

The guide lists both vegetarian and vegan options at resort. It is broken up by ‘lands’ within the park, with clearly marked vegan options.

It also depicts which vegan items are free from dairy, meat, eggs, and honey.

The guide can be found online on the Walt Disney World blog or in the park at Guest Relations.

Some tried and true vegan favorites at Magic Kingdom include, the Pineapple Upside-Down Cake with Pineapple Dole Whip from Aloha Isle and the Revolutionary Meatloaf at Liberty Tree Tavern.

Whether you head into your Walt Disney World vacation armed with a list of vegan-friendly options to enjoy or you just leave it to chance, you’re bound to find delicious plant-based meals.
