This Disneyland Hotel is So Close You’ll See Fireworks From Your Room (And It’s Half the Price)

Look, I’ve stayed at the fancy Disney hotels. I’ve also stayed at the sketchy motels where you’re scared to walk barefoot in the bathroom.

After our 2017 stay at the Fairfield Inn Anaheim, I realized most families are overthinking where to stay at Disneyland.

The Fairfield Inn sits directly across the street from the Disneyland entrance. Not “kinda near” or “walking distance.” Actually across the street. Seven minutes from the hotel lobby to the park security check.

And before you think this is going to cost Disney hotel prices, it’s usually $200 to $400 less per night than staying on property.

That’s the money we used for character meals and souvenirs instead of just nicer towels.

Here’s what nobody tells you about Anaheim hotels: the blocks are huge.

When a hotel says “across the street from Disneyland,” they might technically be correct, but you could be walking 25 minutes to the actual entrance.

Distance from the property line means nothing. Distance from where you scan your ticket is everything.

What Are Disneyland Good Neighbor Hotels?

Good Neighbor Hotels are basically Disney’s way of saying “we approve of these hotels near our parks.”

They’re not owned by Disney, but they meet certain standards and you can buy park tickets when you book your room.

There are 41 Good Neighbor Hotels around Disneyland. The Fairfield Inn is one of them, which means we could buy our tickets bundled with our hotel reservation through Get Away Today and not worry about separate bookings.

The big thing Good Neighbor Hotels used to offer was Magic Morning early entry if you bought a 3-day ticket or longer. That program is gone now.

Actually, as of January 2026, even Disney hotel guests lost their early entry perk. So that advantage of staying on property? It doesn’t exist anymore.

Which makes Good Neighbor Hotels an even better deal than they were when we stayed in 2017.

We stayed at the Fairfield Inn in 2017 when my kids were tiny. I’m updating this review in 2026 because people keep asking me about affordable Disneyland hotels, and this one’s still a winner.

I’ve checked current photos, read recent reviews, and verified pricing and amenities. The hotel has maintained the renovations they did in 2016. Same Disney-themed rooms, same location across from the entrance, same basic setup.

Parking is now $30 per day (it was less in 2017), but everything else is consistent.

The biggest change since our visit is that early entry is completely gone for everyone now, which actually makes Good Neighbor Hotels a better value than before.

Why Location Matters More Than You Think (Specific Walking Directions)

When we walked into the Fairfield Inn lobby in 2017, it already felt Disney-adjacent.

Ticket kiosk, gift shop with Mickey ears and princess dresses, and a Kids Lobby where the little ones could watch Disney Channel while we sorted out our reservation mess.

Speaking of which: we showed up hours before check-in with two different reservations that somehow needed merging, a crying baby, and an overtired preschooler.

The front desk guy could have made us wait. Instead, he told us to relax in the lobby, worked his magic, and handed us keys within minutes so we could change and get to the parks. That kind of service matters when you’re traveling with small kids.

But here’s the real reason I’d stay here again: the walk to Disneyland.

The Fairfield Inn is on Harbor Boulevard, directly across from both park entrances.

Here’s the actual walk:

Walk out the hotel lobby and turn left on Harbor Boulevard. Walk about 100 feet to the crosswalk at the light. Cross Harbor Boulevard (this is a major street, so use the crosswalk). Walk through the shuttle drop-off area. You’re now at the security screening area.

With a baby in a carrier and a 3-year-old holding our hands, it took us seven minutes. If you’re adults without kids, you can do it in five.

The hotel is 0.3 miles from the park entrance. That’s 1,584 feet. I’m being specific because “across the street” means different things at different Anaheim hotels.

We stayed at Pixar Place Hotel on a different trip. That walk is longer and you have to navigate through Downtown Disney. You’re paying two or three times as much to walk farther. Make it make sense.

There’s a Panera in the Fairfield Inn parking lot. We grabbed breakfast and coffee there every morning before rope drop, picked up sandwiches for pool time when we came back for afternoon naps, and got iced drinks whenever we needed them.

Having easy food options right there saved us money and hassle.

The Double Queen Room (Where We Actually Stayed)

We booked a Premium View Double Queen Room. The Disney art on the walls was actually good – modern, colorful, not the cheesy stuff you’d expect.

Every time we dragged ourselves back from the parks, walking into that room made me happy instead of depressed.

Five of us crammed into this room (max occupancy). Two adults in one queen bed, my mom in the other, our 3-year-old on the pullout sofa, and the baby in a travel crib we brought.

Add two car seats, a stroller, and approximately 47 bags because we were going to a wedding right after this trip, and yeah, it was tight.

Would it have been tight in any hotel room with five people and that much luggage? Yes. But I’m telling you this so you know what you’re getting into.

The bathroom setup is perfect for families. Pocket door separates the sink/coffee/fridge area from the bedroom. Another pocket door separates the toilet and shower from the sink area.

This means you can put kids to bed at 8pm, then actually shower and get ready for the next day without waking anyone up.

We kept milk bottles in the fridge for our 3-year-old and stored leftover Panera sandwiches. The coffee maker in there meant I could caffeinate myself in the bathroom before dealing with two kids in the morning.

Beds were comfortable. Smart TV had streaming options and premium channels – we pulled up Netflix one night when we were too exhausted to do anything but stare at a screen.

Here’s what nobody mentions: if you get a room facing Disneyland, you can watch the fireworks from your room.

We saw families camped out in the hallway watching the show. Some people left their shades open so they could watch from bed while their kids slept.

That’s worth requesting when you book.

What You Actually Need to Know Before Booking

The rooms were renovated in 2016 (right before we stayed in 2017), and based on current photos, they still look fresh.

All 467 rooms have free WiFi. This matters more than you think when you’re trying to check wait times or figure out where to meet up with your group.

Parking costs $30 per day. That’s standard for this area. One car per room, no RVs or oversized vehicles allowed.

The hotel has a heated outdoor pool and whirlpool, fitness center, 24-hour market, and game room with arcade games. There’s a Pizza Hut Express on-site.

We didn’t use most of these amenities because we were at the parks from open to close, but they’re there if you need them.

My mom stayed in a King Room with my son for one night. It was spacious for two people, and we even stored car seats in there. The sofa was big enough to actually sit on (some hotel sofas are jokes).

Sleeps four total. You can request a crib. Some rooms connect, which helps if you’re traveling with a bigger group.

That room had the same pocket door bathroom setup, just slightly smaller than the Double Queen version.

One complaint I remember: our room key cards stopped working at least three times during our stay. We had to go back to the front desk to get them reactivated. Annoying but not a dealbreaker. Just be ready for that possibility.

The pool area isn’t fancy. It’s a pool and a hot tub. If you have older kids who care about elaborate pool setups with slides and splash zones, this might not cut it. For us with little ones who just wanted to splash for 20 minutes during afternoon break, it was fine.

The Real Talk About Good Neighbor vs. Disney Hotels

Good Neighbor Hotels don’t give you the perks Disney hotels have. No package delivery to your room, no character dining in your hotel, no special “I’m staying on property” feeling.

Here’s what they also don’t give you: a $500+ per night hotel bill.

As of January 2026, Disney hotels lost their early entry perk anyway. That used to be the big advantage of staying on property – getting into the parks 30 minutes before everyone else.

Now? Nobody gets that. So you’re paying double or triple for…nicer lobbies and the Disney name on your hotel?

The walk from the Fairfield Inn to the actual park entrance is shorter than the walk from Paradise Pier or the Disneyland Hotel. I’ve done both. The Fairfield Inn wins.

Take that $200 to $400 you’re saving per night and spend it on things that actually make your trip better:

• Disneyland character meals
• Souvenirs your kids will actually remember.
• A Flytographer session so you have professional photos instead of blurry iPhone shots (save $20 with my link)
• Lightening Lane so you’re not standing in line for two hours with a melting-down toddler.

After multiple Disneyland trips with kids of different ages, I’ve figured out what you actually need in your park bag and what’s just dead weight. Here’s what I pack in my diaper bag for Disneyland – including the stuff that saved us when things went sideways.

Would I Stay Here Again? (The Honest Answer)

Yes. But let me be specific about why.

When we stayed in 2017, the location was unbeatable, the staff was great, and the rooms worked for our family. The price was reasonable. Those things are still true in 2026 based on current reviews and pricing.

The pool isn’t fancy. As my kids get older and start comparing hotel pools to their friends’ vacation stories, this might matter more. Right now with a 6th grader and 3rd grader, they care more about park time than pool time. That could change.

The rooms are fine. Not luxurious, not gross. Clean, comfortable, functional. If you need fancy bathrobes and pillow menus, book the Grand Californian. If you need a clean bed and a seven-minute walk to Disneyland, book the Fairfield Inn.

Here’s what I’d tell a friend planning their first Disneyland trip: if you can get a park-view room at the Fairfield Inn, do it. Watching fireworks from your hotel while your exhausted toddler sleeps is worth the room upgrade. If you can’t get park view, it’s still the closest Good Neighbor Hotel to the entrance, which matters more than you think when you’re dragging tired kids back to your room at 9pm.

The thing nobody tells you about Disneyland with kids: proximity beats luxury every single time.
