It feels like we’ve been on the go since January! Between all the winter germs, school breaks, work trips, etc our family just hasn’t been in our normal routine.
In the blink of an eye, it’s already March and I’m starting to think about our Spring Break trip to Hawaii. We’re planning on doing lots of sightseeing, attending a couple of luaus, going on some hikes, and relaxing at Disney’s Aulani Resort!
I’ve been going through my closet to purge clothes that either don’t fit me very well or make me feel “meh.” That’s when I realized that most of the clothes I own are neutral colors (mostly grey and navy) and are kind of boring for somewhere vibrant like Hawaii.
I made a point of asking my Stitch Fix stylist to pull together a few looks that I could wear out to dinner, at a luau, exploring Oahu, or lounging at the beach. I can’t wait to see what’s inside my box!

SAVE $25 ON STITCH FIXCOOPER & ELLA | SUMMER TIERED BLOUSE
I admit, this top had me scratching my head when I pulled it out of the box. It looks a lot better in this photo than it does in person.
I’m assuming it was in my box because it’s a sleeveless top that has a floral print.
Retail Price: $98.00
What I Liked about this Summer Tiered Blouse
The fabric felt nice and I know it would probably be very comfortable in warmer climates.
I think it would look cute with cropped white pants, jeans, and possibly a maxi skirt. Plus you could wear a green, pink, orange, or gray cardigan over it to change up the look.
What I Didn’t Like about this Summer Tiered Blouse
It reminds me of something an older person would wear to Easter Brunch or a Mother’s Day tea. The print isn’t tropical, it’s more Springtime floral, which is different.
The shape of this sleeveless blouse is more triangular than this photo suggests, like a Christmas tree. It’s very loose and I didn’t feel cute wearing it.
However, if I was bustier, I think the top would have laid very differently and probably would have been a much more flattering shape.
FINAL VERDICT: Return
LIVERPOOL | JOHNNY SHORT
I told my stylist I was interested in trying on some shorts. This pair is pretty practical for hiking and exploring Hawaii with my family.
I already own a pair of Liverpool jeans that fit me pretty well, so I know this brand works for me.
Retail Price: $68.00
What I Liked about this Johnny Short
I really like the color. They are olive green and can easily be paired with a variety of solid color or printed t-shirts.
They are fingertip length on me, which is what I feel the most comfortable wearing. And the fabric was soft, yet durable enough for outdoor adventures.
What I Didn’t Like about this Johnny Short
They were just a little bit too big for me, which I knew would drive me nuts. And I also thought they were a bit pricey for something I probably won’t wear a ton throughout the year.
FINAL VERDICT: Return
DEAR JOHN | FINNEGAN ROLL CUFF SHORT
Stitch Fix also sent me a pair of denim shorts. Currently, all the shorts I own are denim. However, they are mostly cutoffs with frayed edges, so this is a slightly different style.
Retail Price: $58.00
What I Liked about this Finnegan Roll Cuff Short
I really like the dark denim wash because they look a bit nicer than lighter washes. I also think the rolled cuff makes them seem a bit more elevated.
These denim shorts also passed the fingertip test and are a nice length for me.
What I Didn’t Like about this Finnegan Roll Cuff Short
Since I already own 3 pairs of denim shorts, I had a hard time justifying spending $58 on another pair.
FINAL VERDICT: Return (though I almost kept)
WISP | ELLA JERSEY MAXI DRESS
When I asked my Stitch Fix stylist for tropical clothing that would photograph well, I was envisioning a whole box of items just like this one.
Maxi dresses are so perfect for Hawaii because you can throw them on over a swimsuit and head to lunch or you can look really put together for a fancy dinner.
Retail Price: $88.00
What I Liked about this Ella Jersey Maxi Dress
The print is so fun and vibrant! I immediately pictured myself wearing this with a Hawaiian haku lei (flower crown) to take photos on the beach.
The fabric is awesome and I know it won’t wrinkle in my suitcase. Plus, I can air it out and wear it multiple times on my trip. And if it gets wet, it will dry pretty quickly.
And after we get back to Seattle, I can throw on a cardigan or a denim jacket and wear it all through Spring and Summer here in the Pacific Northwest.
What I Didn’t Like about this Ella Jersey Maxi Dress
The only downside to this dress is I need to wear a t-back bra if I don’t want my bra to show in the back.
FINAL VERDICT: Keep
THREADS 4 THOUGHT | AISHA KNOT FRONT COTTON BLEND KNIT TOP
I’m always on the hunt for good quality shirts that I can wear year round. I tend to do most of my blogging work wearing yoga gear and it’s also one of the staples in my Mom Wardrobe!
Retail Price: $38.00
What I Liked about this Aisha Knot Front Cotton Blend Knit Top
I really like the little knot front detail on this shirt. I have something similar in blue but the shirt isn’t as long and I’m self-conscious wearing it sometimes. This one hits me right about my hip bone, which is perfect.
I also really like the color of this shirt. It will look great with jeans or other solid color pants, crops, or shorts. Plus, I can wear it year-round.
What I Didn’t Like about this Aisha Knot Front Cotton Blend Top
There wasn’t really a “wow” factor, but it’s a good staple wardrobe piece.
FINAL VERDICT: Keep
Overall, I’d say this Stitch Fix Unboxing was mostly successful!
I can’t wait to wear my new maxi dress when I’m touring around Oahu and my new shirt is going to be great for hiking or exploring with my family.
Almost all these items were perfect for a Hawaiian vacation. My stylist did a great job and I can’t wait to see what she brings me next month!
