As a mom, I never knew just how much I would rely on my mom friends for support and friendship.

They’re always there for me whether I need someone to help bring treats for a play date or just to hear me vent about a tough day.

And while this past year has been incredibly isolating and stressful, we’ve stayed connected virtually and that has made a world of difference.

With Mother’s Day just around the corner, I knew I wanted to do something a little special to celebrate my mom friends this year.

So here are five ways to show your mom friends a little extra love this Mother’s Day.

5 Awesome Ways to Celebrate Mother’s Day with Friends

1. Support New Moms

The first few months of navigating mom life with a newborn are hard. You are constantly learning on the go, and things get a little crazy around the home.

This year is especially hard on first-time moms who might not have the physical support they would normally have.

Let your new mom friends know that they’re not alone by offering to help out a little bit or by throwing them a little welcome home party virtually.

You could even drop off some groceries or make a home-cooked meal to show you care!

Here in Seattle, we have PEPS and they are always looking for volunteers to lead virtual new mom groups.

And you can always donate items for babies and new moms at many local non-profits.

2. Go Out for a Moms Only Lunch

As a busy mom, it can be hard to find time away from the kids!

Depending on where you live and what the weather is like in May, try organizing an outdoor lunch date.

You can either meet up in a parking lot and tailgate or head to someone’s backyard for a socially distanced hang out.

Take this time to catch up, maybe enjoy a cocktail, or just have fun with your girlfriends for a while.

This has been such a lifesaver that we’ve actually done them in the rain with umbrellas!

You can also totally do this over Zoom, too.

Find a quiet spot in your house where the kids won’t interrupt. Grab your favorite beverage and something to snack on.

Because Zoom can get frustrating, I find that it’s best to have people sort of take turns. That eliminates a lot of tech issues when people try to talk at the same time.

We like to share our highs and lows and give life updates.

3. Give a Gift That Keeps on Giving

If you are looking for the perfect gift for that special mom in your life this year, why not do something they’ll enjoy for weeks or days to come!

Offer them a car detailing and car wash, a maid to come clean their home or a week of meals prepped for their freezer.

One of the best ways to celebrate Mother's Day with friends is by treating them to a Wantable subscription. Image of a Wantable subscription box with clothing inside.

You can also sign them up for Wantable, which is a super awesome women’s clothing box where they can request specific items. Get $25 with my link!

These are gifts they will cherish and will come in handy long after the day they get them!

4. Offer to Babysit

I think most moms are feeling the urge to get some time away from the kiddos.

So, why not give the gift of babysitting that they can redeem later this year, when they feel comfortable.

Whether they just need some time to head on a kid-free walk or any sort of break from the kids, offering to babysit is like a blessing to a mom!

Offer the chance to have your child and their child have a playdate at your place or to babysit for their next date night.

5. Offer Encouragement and Support

Sometimes the best thing you can offer your mom friend is some encouragement.

Celebrate Mother's Day with friends by telling your mom friends how much you appreciate them with a card. Image of a woman holding a Mother's Day card and daffodil flowers.

Remind her that she is a great mom even if her kids are eating snack packs of pudding instead of organic fruit for a snack.

Remind her that she has a friend in her corner whenever she needs you and that you will always be there for her.

Sometimes these small words can do so much for our mom friends and is the best way to show you care.

Wrap Up

These ideas are perfect for all the moms in your life who could use something a little extra this Mother’s Day!
