I always recommend the area around Seattle Center, which offers a variety of family-friendly attractions and activities. This neighborhood is home to the iconic Space Needle, Pacific Science Center, Museum of Pop Culture, Chihuly Garden and Glass, and the Seattle Children’s Museum. Additionally, it provides easy access to the Seattle Monorail, which can take you to other popular attractions such as Pike Place Market and the downtown shopping district.
Personally, I recommend Downtown Seattle or the Seattle Waterfront. I would avoid Pioneer Square and Belltown because these neighborhoods tend to get rowdy and might not feel safe for a family vacation.
When traveling to Seattle with kids, you’ll probably want to stay near the Seattle Center. That’s where you’ll find tons of family-friendly activities like the Pacific Science Center and MoPOP.
Honestly, Lake Washington is a bit far away from most of the popular Seattle family attractions.
It’s really hard to beat Seattle during the summer months of July through September. June is usually still rainy and very “June-uary” so you just never know. If you can’t visit during the summer, late spring, and early fall are still pretty nice.
The closest place to go wine tasting near Seattle is Woodinville, which is about 30 minutes away. If you want to go to the vineyards, you’ll need to go over to Eastern Washington.
