My family always brings books to read on the airplane ride on our way to our favorite Disney vacation spots, like Disneyland, Walt Disney World, Disneyland Paris, or Aulani. As a bookworm who frequents these places, my related searches always show me cute Disney bookmarks.

My kids usually pick something Disney-related so they can fully immerse themselves in the Disney experience.

Transport your kids (or YOU) to the Happiest Place on Earth while they hold the spot in their favorite book.

Follow the step-by-step directions below to create a classic Mickey and Minnie-inspired felt bookmark in just about 30 minutes, with limited supplies.

How to Make These Fun Disney Bookmarks:

Step 1

The first thing you need to do is download these patterns. Next, you’ll print them and cut them out with scissors.

Once you’ve done that, trace the patterns on felt with a fine-tip permanent marker. There are simple directions on how to do this included on the pattern sheet.

Finally, you’ll cut two black heads for each bookmark you’re making.

Step 2: Assembling Mickey Bookmark

We’re going to start off by making your Mickey Mouse bookmark. First, you’ll attach two black felt Mickey heads to either side of the top edge of the black rectangle body.

Next, you’ll attach the red rectangle pants on top of the bottom section of the black body.

To finish, attach a gold bow at the neck and white buttons to the top edge of the pants. It’s looking cute, right?

TIP:  If you don’t happen to have the correct size buttons on hand, you can either paint buttons you already have with white craft paint OR cut buttons from white felt.

Step 3: Assembling Minnie Bookmark

Now, we’re going to make your Minnie Mouse bookmark. Start by cutting out approximately ten white felt circle polka dots.

Then, you’ll glue them onto a red felt rectangle body using the photo above as a guide for placement. Make sure to let this thoroughly dry before moving on.

Next, you’ll attach two black heads to either side of the top edge of the red rectangle body. Once it’s dry, flip it over and trim the excess white felt from the polka dots.

To finish, attach a red felt bow onto the top of the black felt Minnie head.

Disney Bookmark FAQs

Can paper clips be used as bookmarks?

Yes! If you don’t have time to make these cute Disney bookmarks, you can always use paperclips in a pinch. They work so much better than scraps of paper or receipts. Paperclips stay in the book easily, and they’re simple to remove. Bobby pins are another similar option.

Do bookmarks destroy books?

It depends. Using a bookmark is much better than dog-earing the pages in terms of destroying a book. But, if your bookmark is too bulky, it can damage the binding of your book and loosen up the pages. Just keep this in mind as you make your Disney felt bookmark.

What materials can you use to make a bookmark?

As you’ve seen above, you can make a cute Disney bookmark using felt and buttons. Other popular options include paper, cardstock, leather, ribbon, and paperclips.
