As we are in the midst of summer travel, I thought I’d share some of the baby products I pack on our summer adventures. Here is some of my favorite baby gear items for babies, toddlers and preschoolers.
Top 7 Baby Gear Essentials for Summer Travel

Baby Carrier
I cannot stress how vital bringing a baby carrier with us has been. We’ve gotten a lot of use out of our Happy Baby Wrap and Sakura Bloom ring sling during this warm weather. I like the breath-ability of the Happy Baby Wrap and because it’s made of bamboo, it’s antimicrobial. Our Sakura Bloom is also made of bamboo and can hold a baby or a toddler, making it extra helpful. We also usually bring a soft-structured carrier so our youngest can nap on us while we are touring around.

Snacks
Bring more snacks that you may think you need. Trust me. Not only do snacks get spilled on the ground, but they also are great entertainment for babies. You will go through more snacks than you will ever anticipate. I like to bring Cheerios, yogurt melts, puffs, pouches, and rice crackers.

Portable Toys
I bring a few more toys than I expect to need just in case we lose one (or more) on our travels. We let the kids play with toys at the airport, on the airplane, while waiting for our rental cars, and for when we are at the hotel. I always bring an Oball with us because they can squish down a bit in my suitcase and they entertain both my 9-month-old as well as my 3.5-year-old. We also can’t get enough of these All Aboard board books featuring destinations like Paris, New York, the Pacific Northwest, Washington, DC and more!

Collapsible Wagon
For adventures near home, we rely heavily on our collapsible wagon. It’s very sturdy and can haul kids and baby gear. It’s an essential for days at the beach, BBQs in the park and special events. I love that it folds up with one hand and I can easily toss it in the trunk after a day of adventures.

Sturdy Stroller
As much as we love babywearing, sometimes a stroller is vital baby gear for everyone’s happiness. We recently went to Disneyland and we couldn’t have done it without our stroller. I like to bring one that can accommodate both my baby and my preschooler. We’ve really enjoyed our UPPAbaby G-Luxe umbrella stroller for Disneyland and Europe. The reclining option enabled my oldest to nap every afternoon while we explored with our baby in a carrier.

Water-Resistant Mat
Living in the Pacific Northwest, I’m always leery of sitting on the ground because it’s nearly always damp. And I hesitate setting my baby on grass that may or may not be muddy. Thankfully, there are an assortment of water-resistant mats available. These are not only great for parks in the PNW, but also for the beach. It’s so easy to shake them off and throw them back in the trunk for our next adventure.

Binky Clips
This may seem like such a trivial item, but when you’ve lost your last pacifier on a dirty airplane floor as many times as I have, you’ll realize they are essential. It also gives babies something to play with on long flights. I personally like the Loved by Sophia Claire ones because they don’t stand out in vacation photos.
