So, if you are a wanderlusting mama-to-be, you might be wondering when you should take your babymoon. The fact is, you can turn any vacation while pregnant into your babymoon. In fact, you can take several babymoons, if you like.
The main point of a babymoon is to enjoy one last vacation before adding another member to your family. It’s a great time to take some time to focus on your relationship while celebrating the new life you are bringing into this world. Plus, it’s an excuse to take a (probably) much-needed vacation!
Packing for any trip can be stressful. Add in the fact that you are pregnant and probably don’t fit into your go-to items, it can be overwhelming. And you may not feel super cute (depending on how pregnant you are) which just complicates things even more. I’ve made the mistake of packing clothes that were non-maternity and didn’t fit or maternity clothes that made me feel frumpy. Not a great way to start a vacation.
I’m a big believer in prenatal skin care. The first time I was pregnant, I was shocked at all the changes that happened just to my skin. And with this pregnancy, I noticed that there were different changes than before. I would never consider myself a crunchy, granola mom, but I am very particular about the products I use on myself when I’m pregnant and what I will put on my child. I’ve had mixed luck with organic body products in the past and was interested in seeing what else might be out there. I stumbled across Mambino Organics and was intrigued. They are passionate about their ingredients and source raw, environmentally sustainable ingredients of the highest quality directly from family owned organic and fair trade farms.
When my Mom offered to watch our toddler for a weekend getaway from Seattle, we figured it would be perfect timing to go on a babymoon. We decided to visit downtown Victoria, BC for our romantic weekend. I’d never been to Victoria Island before and figured we’d do some Victoria, BC tours, explore some restaurants, and relax at the spa at the beautiful Fairmont Empress Hotel.
While vacationing on Maui, my Mom popped over from her home on Kauai to visit with us for a few days. She offered to watch our toddler, Owen, so we could have a date night. When someone offers to watch your toddler, the answer is always YES. After scrolling through several “Best Restaurants on Maui” listings online, cruising Front Street in Lahaina, and debating driving to Kihei, we decided to see if we could get in at Roy’s in Ka`anapali. Roy’s is a chain of Hawaiian fusion restaurants that are located on several islands. I’d only been to the one on Kauai before and the food was really tasty. Since we get so few date nights, we figured we’d go with something almost guaranteed to be a good experience.
