Why are Paris Family Photos Important?
I can’t believe how fast time has gone by since my kids were little babies. They’re growing up so quickly and it makes me sad because soon they will no longer be in front of me showing off their newest tricks for approval on repeat 24/7!
I know we only have a few more years left before the next stage begins. So, I’m taking advantage of getting some “me” time with them while traveling abroad.
Who doesn’t want lovely family photos taken at scenic locations in Paris?
Paris is one of my favorite cities in the world to visit with family. The kids have a blast, we get lots of great photos taken by professional photographers who know what they are doing – it’s just an all-around good time!
I’d rather get photos of my family when they are at their best instead of trying to force a photoshoot at home. And there are so many amazing Paris family photographers to choose from at Flytographer.

Why You Should Hire a Paris Vacation Photographer Through Flytographer
1. SECRET INSIDER TIPS
Photographers in Paris are a wealth of knowledge! I always make sure to ask them about the best restaurants, amazing playgrounds and more. They also know the coolest secret spots in Paris!
Plus since they’re professional photographers, they know exactly where and how to take photos without getting random people in front or behind while you’re doing the shoot.
For our photo shoot in Paris, our photographer Kirill took us down side streets that were completely empty. And he was able to move us around to avoid the street cleaners.
This was the main reason why he insisted that we get up early to do our photo shoot. Had we waited even an hour or two later, the streets would have had a lot more people making it tricky to get these photos.
2. POSING HELP
I love taking photos of my kids, but I’m not comfortable being in front of the camera myself.
My Flytographer photographers always know just what to do with me-they come up with poses for us quickly so our pictures look natural despite being forced into awkward positions.
After doing a few shoots with Flytographer, I’ve noticed how much more relaxed we look in photos and I like the lifestyle-vibe of just walking down the street in Paris with family.
3. CAN LEAVE YOUR GEAR AT HOME
There’s nothing like leaving all your camera equipment behind and instead focusing on being present for the family photo session. Flytographer is here to make this happen even better!
You literally leave everything else in its wake when booking a photoshoot with them – no need of trying out different poses while using self-time or wasting time waiting around for people to get out of your shot.
Plus, you’ll have someone else directing your kids. That’s a huge perk in my opinion!
4. THEY ARE FUN + EASY!
The Flytographer crew always knows how to make family photoshoots fun! They are able to read each and every one of us, pulling engaging games out of their imaginary toolbox for the best photos.
For this Paris photography session, Kirill had our kids run in front of the camera to try to “spoil” the shot and they were all over it!
Top Paris Photography Spots
One of the most popular places to take photos in Paris is near the Eiffel Tower. We actually did our first Paris family photo shoot there about 5 years ago.
The view of the Eiffel Tower is just so iconic and it screams PARIS. There are also options to combine it with the Trocadero, Champs de Mars, or the Seine River.
Jardin du Luxembourg is another great idea, especially with kids. It’s full of natural scenery and places for kids to run around.
For a more regal backdrop, try the Louvre grounds and Tuileries Garden. You’ll get a great combination of stunning gardens with ornate buildings with impressive architecture.
Finally, Sacre Couer and Montmartre have a more quaint vibe and you’ll get cute cobblestone streets and adorable shops and cafes.
Book a Family Photo Shoot
Whenever we travel, we almost always book a family photo shoot with Flytographer. They are super easy and affordable AND guarantee that I’ll be in some photos. You can get $25 off if you book through this link or use the code HAWAIITRAVEL.
How to Book Affordable Paris Photographers
While we’ve used a lot of different vacation photographers throughout the years, some of my most memorable experiences have been through Flytographer.
Basically, it’s a concierge vacation photography website where you can find photographers almost anywhere in the world, including Paris. Actually, they have tons of photographers in France. Find the best prices here.
Flytographer makes it really simple to pick the perfect Paris family photographer. You can find out all about their photography style, secret places to take photos, and even scroll through their online portfolio before you book your shoot!
And Flytographer’s booking process is simple and quick — just pick your preferred dates with a click of a button.
They will then check availability for you so that there’s no stress involved in selecting an available date or time slot when they get back to you with more information on what works best for them!
What I love most about Flytographer is that they are FAST! We sometimes receive our photos before the end of our trip! I love looking at them on our flight home.
What to Wear for Your Paris Photo Shoot
Of course, you can totally wear whatever you want for your Paris family photos. But, I know some people like to get ideas, so I’m listing a few options to add to your Paris packing list to make your photos look cohesive.
Anything Pink
When a lot of people think about Paris, they usually picture the color pink. Not Barbie pink, but either pastel pink or blush pink.
It’s always nice to either have pink be the main color or include pops of pink. That could mean a pink dress for mom and pink bow ties or suspenders for boys. Or it could mean pink dress shirts for men.
There can be as much or as little pink as you like.
Blue and White Stripes
When we think of French fabric patterns, the classic one is blue and white stripes. You’ll see this come up for women’s blouses, flowy dresses, or even skirts.
This pattern works well for men, women, and kids of all ages.
Pastels
Another option is just to go with a pastel color scheme. You can pick one or two colors and have everyone wear something coordinating.
Or you could go with a pastel rainbow color scheme where each family member wears a different color. This is a great way to highlight different personalities while still looking cohesive.
Neutrals
If none of the ideas above float your boat, you’ll probably want to go with neutral colors. These are usually white, grey, tan, or blue.
The reason why this color scheme is so popular is that it works well with any sort of background.
7 Tips for Getting Awesome Paris Family Pictures Every Time
1. Bring an Adapter for Hair Tools
I brought along my favorite hair tool (the 3 day bender) and even though I had an adapter with me, I just couldn’t get it hot enough to keep the curl.
It was super frustrating because I thought it would work just like at home. Funny enough, I had no problem using the same adapter for my straightener.
I highly recommend testing out your hair tools before your shoot in case you need to buy a different adapter while you’re in Paris.
2. You’ll Want to do Full Makeup
Even if you usually just do a little or no make-up in your everyday life, I highly recommend kicking it up a notch for photos. That’s because you might look a little washed out during the editing process.
It’s also an easy way to tone down sunburns, splotchy skin, or acne. Just take the extra time to do up your face, trust me.
3. Think About Your Outfits
I couldn’t decide if I wanted to wear something pink or something with blue and white stripes. Both seemed very Parisian to me.
So, I asked my friends and one of them sent me the link to the dress I ended up buying for the photo shoot. It was pink and offered just the right amount of flounce.
I actually picked out blue and white floral shirts for my boys to wear but it was SO cold that morning that they added grey sweaters on top.
I’m so glad we had that option and it ended up looking really cute! I highly recommend having extra options in case the weather is chilly.
4. You’ll Either Wake Up Before Dawn or Stay up Late
We had a hard time deciding between a sunrise shoot or a sunset shoot. That’s when it’s the best light and minimal crowds.
We hired our Paris family photographer for a summer shoot, which meant sunrise was around 6 am and sunset was closer to 10 pm.
Since this was part of our Paris family vacation, we figured we might have better moods if we did it first thing in the morning instead of after a long day of touring around Paris. We were totally right!
5. Choose Your Route Carefully
It always helps to peruse the portfolios of Paris family photographers so you can decide which locations speak to you the most.
For our first Paris family vacation, we opted to do our photoshoot next to the Eiffel Tower. I mean, it’s so iconic and we really wanted to highlight it since it was our youngest son’s first trip anywhere in the world.
But, when we returned to Paris 5 years later, we didn’t want to repeat our shoot.
After scrolling through some portfolios, we decided that it would be really cool to head up to Montmartre and take photos with Sacre Couer.
6. Add an Incentive For Your Kids
We always like to reward our kids for a job well done, especially with photo shoots. While I LOVE them, it’s not really their favorite activity.
So for our Paris photo shoot, we booked breakfast at Laduree on the Champs-Elysees and told them they could order as many macarons and treats as they wanted for breakfast. It really helped them keep up their spirits.
7. Think About Props
One of the ways you can make your family photo shoot in Paris a bit extra special is by adding props. We actually bought a little French flag to use but I should have bought one for each kid to avoid fighting.
I’ve also seen other families use bouquets and I think that’s a brilliant idea for a Parisian photo shoot. You can grab one on your way to your photo shoot.
Food also makes great souvenirs. You might include macarons or croissants. You could even wear colorful berets for a few photos (they sell them at a lot of souvenir shops).
How to Hire a Photographer in Paris France FAQs
The price of a photographer in Paris France can vary a lot. We used Flytographer, which has a flat rate of $285USD for a 30-minute shoot or $385USD for a 60-minute shoot. This is one of the most affordable Paris photographer rates.
You’ll want to dress up a bit but be comfortable in whatever you wear. Pink is a popular color and stripes are a popular pattern. There will be a lot of walking if you want different backdrops, so wear nice shoes you can walk around a lot in.
When you are taking photos in front of the Eiffel Tower, you’ll want to wear either neutral colors or soft pastels. Flowy dresses or skirts look nice with the breeze. And definitely dressing up is a good idea.
