Our family just bought a PNW vacation rental home this summer and we are fully embracing island life. It’s right on the water and we’re having a blast decorating in a coastal vibe.

So, when it was time to tell my Stitch Fix stylist what I wanted in my July Stitch Fix box, it was easy. I told her to send me anything that felt like summertime in the Hamptons or Cape Cod.

I figured there would be lots of blues, whites, stripes, and other nautical themed summer fashion items.

As soon as my summer Stitch Fix box arrived, I couldn’t wait to open and it and see what she pulled for me!July 2020 Stitch Fix review and unboxing by top Seattle lifestyle blogger Marcie in Mommyland

MARKET & SPRUCE | LANIE SHORT

While I spent many years avoiding shorts, I’m finding a new appreciation for them as a mom. But, it’s always tricky to find them that are at just the right length.

And it can be tricky to get the style right so it doesn’t look frumpy, but also doesn’t look too junior.

What I Liked about this Lanie Short

I’m a big fan of the Market & Spruce brand because their clothing always fits me so well. So, it was no surprise that these fit me like a glove.

Not only did they fit my waist, but they were also long enough to feel modest. I’d say they are like short Bermuda shorts.

And I think these would look super cute with a white top.

What I Didn’t Like about this Lanie Short

I’m not sure the print is exactly my style. My first thought is that it felt like I was wearing curtains or an upholstered couch. I actually like the print more in the photo above than in person.

FINAL VERDICT: Return

MAX STUDIO | IZLA BUTTON DOWN TOP

When I think of clothing that is “coastal chic,” I definitely think of blue and white stripes and things that are lightweight and flowy.

This shirt is definitely the epitome of what I imagine.

Retail Price: $68.00

What I Liked about this Izla Button Down Top

This is definitely one of the softest shirts I’ve ever felt! It’s lightweight and breezy and I felt relaxed yet put-together when I tried it on.

I think it would look great with a pair of white pants or denim cutoffs. Easy to dress up or down. And it would even work as a swimsuit cover up. Very versatile.

What I Didn’t Like about this Izla Button Down Top

I’m not sure if the shape is the most flattering for me. It’s a little boxy on me and I can’t tell if I just need to go down a size or if it’s just the style.

FINAL VERDICT: Return

DEAR JOHN | LILLIE SHORT CUFFED DISTRESSED

There’s something so retro yet timeless about a pair of denim shorts. I think they remind adults of carefree summers as kids and teens, and that’s a great thing!

Retail Price: $58.00

What I Liked about this Lillie Short Cuffed Distressed

I absolutely love the look of these! They aren’t cutoffs, so they look a bit more finished. And they go with just about every kind of top. Definitely a staple in every woman’s wardrobe.

What I Didn’t Like about this Lillie Short Cuffed Distressed

These denim shorts are just a bit too short for me. Plus, I already own a very similar pair.

FINAL VERDICT: Return

LILLY PULITZER | HILLARY FRENCH TERRY POPOVER DRESS

Summer on the coast is all about easy dresses that work any time of day. Dresses that can be worn with sandals and flip flops and go from beach time to lunch at a cafe are what it’s all about.

Retail Price: $158.00

What I Liked about this Hillary French Terry Popover Dress

This is one of the coziest dresses I’ve ever tried on. I love that it feels like a super soft, oversized sweatshirt that would be perfect for chilly mornings or evenings. It’s just a bit stretchy and it’s really flattering.

And it’s got the little thumb holes on the sleeves, which I love.

It’s a dress that works year-round. Just add a pair of leggings or skinny jeans and it’s great in colder months. Or wear with sandals in the summer.

Plus, it has UV protection built into the fabric!

What I Didn’t Like about this Hillary French Terry Popover Dress

The only thing I didn’t like about this lovely dress was the price tag. It’s just more than I would normally pay for something like this because I usually shop the sales.

FINAL VERDICT: Return

SKIES ARE BLUE | KINSEY CROCHET DETAIL MAXI DRESS

Maxi dresses are another thing that are a total summer wardrobe staple. It’s so easy to dress them up or down and they are usually pretty forgiving if your weight fluctuates a little.

Retail Price: $78.00

What I Liked about this Kinsey Crochet Detail Maxi Dress

The crochet detail is super cute! I especially like the see-thru crochet right around the knee area. The length is really nice and I love that it would work for a summer party!

It actually reminded me a lot of a beachy wedding dress. It’s very boho chic and really pretty!

What I Didn’t Like about this Kinsey Crochet Detail Maxi Dress

I’m always a bit hesitant to wear white. As a mom with 2 active little boys, the chances of me getting food or dirt or some unknown substance wiped on me is pretty high. This dress wouldn’t have a chance.
