2020 is off with a bang for our family! We just got back from a whirlwind trip to New Zealand and Fiji with my husband’s side of the family and we’re gearing up for our first Disney cruise next month.

I told my stylist that I’m looking for resort wear and things that would be cute to wear on a Disney cruise in the Caribbean. I already own some shorts that fit well, so I asked her to focus on dresses and other options.

I’m also looking for travel bags that I could use on the airplane or for cruise excursions.

I’ve been doing Stitch Fix for a full year now. Last month, I started asking for them to include luxe items at a slightly higher price point just to see what I’d get.Stitch Fix Unboxing and Try on for January featured by top US life and style blogger, Marcie in Mommyland.

Let’s take a peek at what was inside my January 2020 Stitch Fix box:

STREET LEVEL | ANCHORAGE DIAMOND PRINTED TOTE

I’ve downsized most of my purses now that I don’t need a diaper bag. However, I still need a bag that I can stash extra snacks and a water bottle for airline travel or for day trips with the kids.

I like my bags to have different compartments for organization, but also open areas to stuff odd shaped items or extra clothes.

Retail price: $64.00

What I Liked about this Anchorage Diamond Printed Tote:

It’s the perfect size for moms! I love that it has three distinct areas, including a zippered pocket in the center. The fabric feels durable and the bag is able to stand up.

I think it’s a flattering shape and would go with a lot of outfits, especially nautical clothing with the blue and white color scheme.

What I Didn’t Like about this Anchorage Diamond Printed Tote:

I’m not in love with the print for me. It’s super cute and I want to love it, but there’s something about the print that just isn’t my style.

I think it would be adorable on just about anyone else, though. It makes me think of Santorini, Greece, which is a good thing!

FINAL VERDICT: Return (although I hemmed and hawed a lot about it)

LEOTA | FINNLEY FAUX WRAP KNIT DRESS

Dresses are my go-to travel item. They look classy and I feel put together without stressing about finding tops and bottoms that look good together.

I love dresses that I can throw into my bag without worrying about wrinkles. Those are the ones I can re-wear on trips without feeling like a total slob.

Retail price: $88

Finnley Faux Wrap Knit Dress by Leota

What I Liked about this Finnley Faux Wrap Knit Dress:

It screams Minnie Mouse on a cruise ship! I smiled as soon as I brought it out of the box!

It feels lightweight and very swishy and cute. It hits at the perfect length for me and I love that I can wear a bra with it.

I love the dark navy and the polka dots and the white piping. It feels perfect for a Disney cruise. In fact, I’m already envisioning my Instagram photos wearing this dress and maybe a sun hat or straw bag. Or nautical Minnie ears!

What I Didn’t Like about this Finnley Faux Wrap Knit Dress:

My only hesitation is that it is very similar to a Leota dress that I got in my November Stitch Fix box. This one is more sophisticated and nautical, while the other is more flirty and bright.

FINAL VERDICT: Keep (it’s just SO perfect for the cruise!)

MARKET & SPRUCE | TRUE CROCHET TRIM MAXI DRESS

I love wearing lightweight maxi dresses in tropical locations. They work well for the beach, walking around resorts, and going out to dinner. They are just so versatile.

I also usually wear maxi dresses on the airplane with a sweater or denim jacket. They are comfortable to wear for long periods of time.

Retail price: $84.00

What I Liked about this True Crochet Trim Maxi Dress:

It feels really nice! There’s a little liner in the skirt part that comes about mid-thigh. The rest is just a thin, gauzy fabric which is perfect for a tropical island.

The top part is super flattering and I love that I can wear a normal bra with this dress.

What I Didn’t Like about this True Crochet Trim Maxi Dress:

I’m not a fan of the print. It’s just not my style and the color isn’t flattering for my skin tone.

Had it been a brighter print, or a solid color, I would have kept it in a heartbeat because it fit so well.

FINAL VERDICT: Return

JUST BLACK | MARIE DISTRESSED RELEASED HEM SKINNY JEAN

When I think of cruise wear, I usually picture navy blue and white. It’s very nautical and retro-chic.

White pants can be tricky to pull off, but they really make an outfit look so put together.

Retail price: $88.00

Marie Distressed Released Hem Skinny Jean by Just Black

What I Liked about this Marie Distressed Released Hem Skinny Jean:

They fit me like a glove! I got another pair of Just Black distressed jeans in a previous Stitch Fix box (I’m currently wearing them as I write this) and I love how well they fit me.

The distressing on these white pants makes them feel updated and on trend. They are very flattering and the ankle length is perfect for wearing cute sandals or walking shoes.

What I Didn’t Like about this Marie Distressed Released Hem Skinny Jean:

I already own a pair of white pants and I don’t need another pair.

I did have to think really hard about whether to keep or return these pants because they fit so well and were a different style than the pants I already own (which are a bit dressier) but knowing my boys, they would wipe chocolate ice cream on my pants and I’d get frustrated.

Someday my kids will be older and I can wear white pants again…

FINAL VERDICT: Return

DANIEL RAINN | CELINA SPLIT NECK BLOUSE

When heading to a tropical destination, it’s always great to have fun, sleeveless tops that are lightweight and breathable.

I like to be fairly modest when I travel and loose tops keep me nice and cool.

Retail price: 58.00

Celina Split Neck Blouse by Daniel Rainn

What I Liked about this Celina Split Neck Blouse:

The fit is on point! The neckline is flattering and it hits my hip bone, which I appreciate since I don’t like shorter tops.

I like how lightweight it is and it looks great with the white pants.

What I Didn’t Like about this Celina Split Neck Blouse:

The print was not my style. It looks really generic and a bit too “old” for my taste. The print looks better from a distance, but close up it’s just not something I would wear.

FINAL VERDICT: Return

O

Overall, I’d say this Stitch Fix Unboxing was mostly successful!

Three out of the five items were definitely my style and I really had to debate which ones to keep! And I still am wondering if I should have kept that bag!

These are super cute resort wear items and things to wear on a Disney cruise. My stylist did a great job listening to me and finding items she thought would look great on my upcoming vacation.

I can’t wait to wear my new Finnley Faux Wrap Knit Dress while enjoying my first Disney cruise next month!

And if you’d like to try Stitch Fix, use my referral link and we’ll both get $25!

My next Stitch Fix Unboxing will be in February, stay tuned and click here for my December unboxing!
