While I’ve been a huge Stitch Fix fan for the past 18 months or so, I sometimes forget that they also have a Stitch Fix Kids subscription box.

My son Owen got his first box about a year ago (you can click to read his honest Stitch Fix Kids thoughts.) And he’s been asking me when his next box is coming ever since.

Owen is 6 years old and no longer will just wear whatever I pick out for him. It feels like the end of an era!

So, I’m trying to let him express himself through his clothing choices. While I normally take him into the store to pick out his clothes, we’ve been trying to minimize that these past few months.

That’s when I remembered about Stitch Fix Kids and figured it would be a great way to let him try on a few new items, see what fits, and what he really likes.Stitch Fix Kids Unboxing & Review featured by top Seattle life and style blogger, Marcie in Mommyland

Let’s take a peek at what was inside his Summer 2020 Stitch Fix Kids box:

Stitch Fix Kids Unboxing and Try On: Summer 2020

So, my Stitch Fix boxes I’ve been getting the past few months have been pretty spot on with what I’ve been asking for. Let’s see if Owen’s Stitch Fix Kids stylist was on the money with her Stitch Fix Kids selections and whether or not this Stitch Fix Kids unboxing is a hit or a miss.

And right now, if you sign up using my referral link, you’ll get $25 off your first Stitch Fix Kids box!

LAZER | SHAKIB STRETCH TWILL JOGGER

We live in the Pacific Northwest and we always joke that summer doesn’t officially hit Seattle until July 5th! So, we spend most of June and early July wearing long pants and sweatshirts.

Owen’s had a bit of a growth spurt this spring, but he’s still slim. So, it’s been tricky to find pants that fit him well.

Retail Price: $22.00

What He Liked about this Shakib Stretch Twill Jogger

He liked the color and the style. I liked that it felt sturdy enough for playing outside without immediately getting holes in it. These are great pants that can be dressed up a bit with a button down shirt or super casual with a tee shirt.

What He Didn’t Like about this Shakib Stretch Twill Jogger

He already owns a very similar pair, so he wasn’t that excited to see these ones.

FINAL VERDICT: Return

HURLEY | CLOUD SLUB HENLEY TEE

My kids wear a lot of bright colors, especially when we are traveling, so that we can easily spot them. And we’re always on the lookout for clothing that he can wear any time of the year.

Retail Price: $22.00

What He Liked about this Hurley Cloud Slub Henley Tee

Owen loved the bright orange color, but he really loved how incredibly soft this shirt is. He told me he wanted us to buy it just so he could feel the softness whenever he wanted. I admit, it was super soft.

What He Didn’t Like about this Hurley Cloud Slub Henley Tee

He really wanted to keep it, but he already owns a lot of shirts and I couldn’t justify the $22 price tag. If it was closer to $12, we would have purchased.

FINAL VERDICT: Return

KID DANGEROUS | MAXIMO SHORT SLEEVE GRAPHIC FLAMINGO TEE

We told our Stitch Fix Kids stylist to choose items that felt “special” or unique in some way. We were crossing our fingers for a few fun graphic tees and she delivered!

Retail Price: $14.00

What He Liked about this Maximo Short Sleeve Graphic Flamingo Tee

He cracked up as soon as he saw the flamingos! The color is gorgeous and looks great with his tanned skin. We both really loved everything about it!

What He Didn’t Like about this Maximo Short Sleeve Graphic Flamingo Tee

I told him he could only pick one tee shirt out of this box to keep and he liked a different one more. Plus, we both agreed this actually looked more like his brother’s style.

FINAL VERDICT: Return (but it was a close call!)

ANDY & EVAN | NATE SHORT SLEEVE BAMBOO WOVEN PRINTED TOP

Sometimes we go out to a nice restaurant or get together for summer parties and it’s nice when the boys can look a bit dressed up without looking stuffy. This dinosaur button down is a great balance!

Retail Price: $22.00

What He Liked about this Nate Short Sleeve Bamboo Woven Printed Top

He thought the dinosaurs were an awesome touch! Blue is one of his favorite colors and he liked the pattern on it.

What He Didn’t Like about this Nate Short Sleeve Bamboo Woven Printed Top

The print looked a bit too much like camo to me. Plus, the fabric wasn’t nearly as thought as we expected. It was kind of stiff and not like other bamboo clothing items we own.

FINAL VERDICT: Return

BROOKLYN CLOTH | HAROLD FLEECE SHORT

Since summer is just starting, most of my son’s shorts are from last year or from our vacation to New Zealand earlier this year. We’re always on the lookout for comfy shorts that he can wear.

Stitch Fix Kids Unboxing & Try On: Summer 2020 featured by top Seattle lifestyle blogger, Marcie in Mommyland: image of Brooklyn Cloth Harold Fleece Short

Retail Price: $18.00

What He Liked about this Harold Fleece Short

Owen is a huge fan of palm trees so it was no surprise that he loved these shorts as soon as he pulled them out of his Stitch Fix Kids box. They are kind of like cut off sweatpants and I can see him wearing them day and night for the next few weeks.

What He Didn’t Like about this Harold Fleece Short

They were a bit too big for him, but he’s able to use the drawstring to tighten them. I thought the price was a bit high, but my son LOVED them, so I caved.

FINAL VERDICT: Keep

KID DANGEROUS | MAXIMO SHORT SLEEVE GRAPHIC LION TEE

While Owen has a TON of shirts in his dresser, he’s starting to outgrow some (and some are stained) so we like to keep our eyes out for cool new shirts.

Retail Price: $12.00

What He Liked about this Maximo Short Sleeve Graphic Lion Tee

EVERYTHING. He knew immediately that he wanted to keep this one because he thought it was hilarious to see a lion with a human body riding a motorcycle. And I liked the price tag!

What He Didn’t Like about this Maximo Short Sleeve Graphic Lion Tee

Nothing, he was sold the moment he took it out.

FINAL VERDICT: Keep

FLAPDOODLES | ORVAL RASHGUARD SWIM SET

Finding swimsuits that fit has been a real struggle for us this year. Owen grew a bunch, but he’s still really slender. So, his swimsuits from last year fit around the waist but are super short. Not a cool look.

Retail Price: $28.00

What He Liked about this Orval Rashguard Swim Set

He thought the sharks were really cool (which was news to me) and he thought the fabric felt really good. I was surprised that this set fit him perfectly! The shorts were plenty long and they fit around the waist.

What He Didn’t Like about this Orval Rashguard Swim Set

Nothing. In fact, he wore them the rest of the day. No, we did not go swimming.

FINAL VERDICT: Keep

MARVEL | MARVEL SHORT SLEEVE GRAPHIC TEE

We asked for unique graphic tee shirts and this one definitely fits the bill! It’s a simple design, but with a sparkly twist!

Stitch Fix Kids Unboxing & Try On: Summer 2020 featured by top Seattle lifestyle blogger, Marcie in Mommyland: image of Marvel Short Sleeve Graphic Tee

Retail Price: $18.00

What He Liked about this Marvel Short Sleeve Graphic Tee

Owen is a big fan of these sequin shirts that change color or design. He already owns a few Star Wars ones that are in a constant rotation.

What He Didn’t Like about this Marvel Short Sleeve Graphic Tee

He’s not a huge Marvel fan, so he was disappointed it didn’t say Star Wars!

FINAL VERDICT: Return

CAPELLI NEW YORK | ESMO SLIDE SANDAL

Just like the rest of him, Owen’s feet have also grown during the past few months. We just bought him flip flops in February for our Disney Cruise, but his feet are almost reaching the edges.

Retail Price: $14.00

What He Liked about this Esmo Slide Sandal

His cousins wear slide sandals so he already knows they are super cool. These ones have sharks and match the swimsuit set, so he was sold! And I was sold when I saw the price tag.

What He Didn’t Like about this Esmo Slide Sandal

They were a little big when he first tried them on, but he just adjusted them and they fit perfectly.

FINAL VERDICT: Keep

TAILOR VINTAGE | PHILLIPPE FRENCH TERRY SWEAT SHORT

Like I said before, we’re always looking for comfy shorts that can go with a lot of the shirts he already owns.

Stitch Fix Kids Unboxing & Try On: Summer 2020 featured by top Seattle lifestyle blogger, Marcie in Mommyland: image of Tailor Vintage Phillippe French Terry Sweat Short

Retail Price: $18.00

What He Liked about this Phillippe French Terry Sweat Short

He thought they felt soft and comfortable. I thought the stripes were cute.

What He Didn’t Like about this Phillippe French Terry Sweat Short

He liked the palm tree shorts more so he wanted to return these ones. The colors are really his style anyway.

FINAL VERDICT: Return

Watch His Full Stitch Fix Unboxing + Try On Video

Overall, we’d say this Stitch Fix Kids Unboxing was really good!

This Stitch Fix Kids subscription box lived up to Owen’s expectations! If you watched the video, you know he was over the moon to check out each item!

He would have kept a few more items if I hadn’t limited him. And he’s already asking when his next Stitch Fix Kids box is coming! I think we’re going to do one every quarter just so he has a bit more say in what he wears.
