Does your family have big holiday travel plans? My family is heading to Walt Disney World for the first time and I’m paranoid that someone is going to sick we’ll miss out on some of the fun.

We all got our flu shots, I’ve stocked up on elderberry syrup, we’re washing our hands like crazy and we sprint away from anyone who has the slightest sniffle.

But, I’m also doing everything I can to prepare for the worst. You know, it’s better to be prepared and not need it, right?

Staying Healthy During the Holidays while Traveling

Traveling during the holidays can be so stressful because of the crowds and the weather. No one wants to be stuck at an airport, especially if you aren’t feeling well.

Here are some tips for staying healthy during the holidays while traveling:

BEFORE YOUR FLIGHT

I’m a huge fan of Lipton Tea. I always drink a lot of tea during the holidays because it’s so warm and cozy on chilly days. But, it can also help keep you healthy.

Did you know they make a whole Lipton Wellness product line?

The Lipton Wellness range, made with carefully selected botanicals and blended with essential oils, helps make well-being a part of your everyday routine.

I like their Daily Support tea as I’m gearing up for a trip. It’s an excellent source of Vitamin C, that helps support your body’s natural defenses.*

These carefully selected botanicals are blended with green tea and natural essential oils that make every cup delicious. I like to add a bit of honey to mine!

ON THE AIRPLANE

The first thing I like to do when I get on the airplane is immediately wipe down all the surfaces with these Kleenex® Germ Removal Wipes. I do my kids’ seats first.

I start with the armrests and all the buttons on them. Then, I get the whole seat belt, focusing on the buckle itself.

With a new wipe, I clean the tray (both sides) and the little holder.

And I usually try to turn off the air vents above my seat (and my kids’ seats.) I don’t like to be cold when we fly, but I’ve also been hearing it might be a way to keep germs from blowing around us.

Before eating anything on the airplane, make sure to wipe your hands with a wet wipe. Same goes for using the lavatory.

If you are worried about drying out your hands, bring some hand lotion with you.

Kleenex is offering FREE Home Delivery (where home delivery is available) Offer valid 9/4 – 11/11/18

AT YOUR HOTEL

Cleaning Your Room

After you enter your room, head straight to the bathroom and WASH YOUR HANDS. Think of all the doors you’ve opened, buttons you’ve pressed, and people you’ve been around.

Then, I wipe down specific areas in our hotel, especially when I’m traveling with my kids. Here’s what I wipe down with the Kleenex Germ Removal Wipes:

  • Phone (my kids always touch it)
  • Remotes (same reason)
  • Outside door handle
  • Light switches
  • Coffee machine
  • Minifridge door handle
  • Any surfaces my kids might set food on (and then pick it back up and eat)

Fighting a Cold

If you do happen to feel a bit under the weather after your flight, one of the best things you can do is get some solid sleep.

But, that can be difficult in hotels.

Thankfully, Theraflu makes Power Pods (available in both Daytime Severe Cold and Nighttime Severe Cold) so you can get some decent sleep while traveling.

Compatible with most single-serve coffee makers you’ll find in hotels, these fast-relieving pods work on even your severe symptoms.

Theraflu Power Pods Daytime Severe Cold temporarily relieves these symptoms due to a cold:

  • minor aches and pains
  • headache
  • nasal and sinus congestion
  • cough due to minor throat and bronchial irritation
  • minor sore throat pain

You can save $2.00 on any ONE (1) Theraflu Power Pods through 12/8, via this digital offer.

WHILE YOU ARE EXPLORING

I’ve always had a sensitive stomach and one of the worst things that happens when I’m traveling is that I get an upset tummy.

It puts a major damper on our adventures and it affects the whole family.

So, now I pack a few bags of Lipton Soothe Your Tummy tea. It’s an herbal infusion for those times your tummy feels less than its best.*

Sometimes I make it in the hotel and put in my thermos before we head out. Other times, I get hot water at restaurants before we leave.

And don’t forget your Kleenex Wet Wipes! Make sure everyone wipes their hands before consuming anything at restaurants, cafes, and street carts!

WHEN YOU GET HOME

As soon as you get home, take a shower and wash all of your clothes (including slippers.) Better to be safe than sorry.

Winter Travel Packing Essentials

Ok, so now that you know how I try to keep the cold/flu away while I travel, here’s what I like to pack for staying healthy during the holidays:

You can find them in the tissue aisle at QFC next to other Kleenex products. For our family, Kleenex provides dependable care and ultimate softness.

THERAFLU POWERPODS

You can buy a box of 8 Theraflu Power Pods Daytime Severe Cold so you have plenty during and after your trip. I love that Theraflu provides powerful relief without a prescription.

LIPTON WELLNESS TEAS

Head to the tea section of QFC to pick up a box of Lipton Wellness Teas. One box has 15 triangularly shaped tea bags.

I like to throw a few in my carry on bag (in case I want some during the flight or at the airport.)

VITAMINS

Pack enough vitamins for everyone in your family and make sure you take them! I suggest setting an alarm on your phone to remind you take vitamins.

NOISE-CANCELING HEADPHONES

After I’ve wiped down my airplane area, I like to put on noise-canceling headphones.

I mean, the last thing I want is to hear people coughing around me when I can’t do anything about it. Ignorance is bliss!

SLIPPERS/SOCKS

It’s best to avoid walking around hotels in bare feet to protect yourself from anything on the carpet or bathroom floor.

GLOVES

Winter is a great excuse to wear gloves and not touch things when you are out and about.

SCARF

Wrap a scarf around your nose/mouth when you walk through crowded areas to minimize your exposure to some germs.

LAYERS OF CLOTHING

It’s usually freezing outside but warm indoors, so stay comfortable by adding on (or shedding) layers throughout your day.
