Tuk Tuk Paris Tours with Kids

Tuk Tuk Paris Tours with Kids

Sharing is caring!

My husband and I love to tour cities through unique transportation. One of our favorite memories of Rome was cruising around on a golf cart to see historical sites.

As soon as we decided to bring our kids Paris, France, I started Googling and was ecstatic to find Paris by TukTuk.

We saw tuk tuk tours while traveling in Asia so we were instantly intrigued. After perusing their website, I emailed them to see if we could do a tuk tuk Paris tour around to see the “real” Paris.

Paris by TukTuk

If you are looking for a unique tour of Paris, Paris by TukTuk is the way to go! They have a fleet of 14 tuk tuks that tour around Paris. Eack tuk tuk can seat 6 passengers for a private tour of Paris.

All their chauffeurs are true Parisians, born and raised. They know the ins and outs of Paris and will give you the best insider tips to make the most of your trip to Paris.

But, you don’t have to do an official tour. You can also use the Paris tuk tuk as a taxi to take you to dinner or to go for a little spin around town. It’s a fun way to get off your feet after a long day of walking.

Paris Tuk Tuk Tour Options for Families

So, Paris by TukTuk has more than 10 tours. I’m not going to list them all. Instead, I’m going to focus on the ones that are most popular with families with children.

These tours how you the most famous spots in Paris that kids will recognize from books, movies and TV shows.

GRAND TOUR OF PARIS

This is a 3 hour tour that takes you to the most famous monuments in Paris. Since it’s a private tour, they will go at your pace and will even stop for some fun photo ops. And if 3 hours seems too short, you can always extend to a half-day or full-day tour.

PARIS CENTER, AROUND THE RIVER

If you aren’t sure how your kids will like the tuk tuk tour, or if you are tight on time, this tour is only 90 minutes. You’ll get to see most of the great monuments in Paris, but won’t have time to see Montmartre.

CHAMPS-ELYSEES + EIFFEL TOWER

For a whirlwind tour, zip around the Eiffel Tower and the Grand Palais in just 45 minutes. Plus, you’ll get to go on the Champs-Elysees, which is considered one of the most beautiful avenues in the world and is a symbol of Paris.

PARIS + NOTRE-DAME

This is another 45 minute tour and you’ll drive past the National Assembly, the Latin Quarter, the Panetheon, the famous Notre-Dame cathedral and more.

What Paris with Kids Tour Did We Pick?

Since we knew we wanted to get out and explore some of the top attractions in Paris, we decided the classic tours weren’t for us. This trip was all about connecting with real people.

We signed up for an amazing walking tour of Paris for the morning, so we were looking for a tour that would show us a side of Paris we might not see otherwise.

REAL LIFE IN PARIS

There were so many cool Paris tours for families to choose from, but we ultimately picked the Real Life in Paris tour. It was about 2 hours long, which was the right length of time with a baby and toddler.

I showed my 3 year old photos of the tuk tuk tour from their website, so it was his job to keep a look out for our Paris tuk tuk.

Our driver, Arnaud, picked us up at our flat. This was really helpful because we didn’t have to try to meet him somewhere unfamiliar.

It was a chilly April day that had been a bit rainy, so he put on the roof and plastic sides to keep us warm and dry. While it meant that our view was obstructed a bit, we were very thankful to keep our family warm.

The Paris tuk tuk can seat up to 6 people. I wore our baby in my Tula baby carrier and had our 3-year-old sit beside me and we faced the back of the tuk tuk.

My husband sat in the back of the tuk tuk so he could get a better view for photos. We had plenty of space for our large backpack and to move around a bit.

We figured we could see the main tourist attractions on our own, so we requested a “Secret Paris Tour” that would show us some areas away from the main sites.

If it had been our first time in Paris, we would have done one of their “Classical Tours” to see the major landmarks.

Our flat was near the Arc de Triomphe, so we headed that direction and saw the Bastille. We headed to the Northeast end of Paris and then the Eastside. We saw a lot of beautiful parks and historic buildings.

Arnaud made sure to pull over every once in awhile to explain what we were looking at. We stayed close to the Seine for awhile and we looked out the windows in awe of Paris.

Our 3 year old was mostly enchanted that we were in a real tuk tuk. He waved at motorcyclists behind us and was thrilled when some waved back.

Then he started waving at construction workers (who also waved back) and middle school students (who seemed too cool to wave at a preschooler.) It became a game for our son to see who would wave back. We got a lot of looks from pedestrians and many smiled at us and we scooted by.

Arnaud showed us a back road that ended at an area that overlooked Paris and the Eiffel Tower. My husband asked if we could stop and get out for a moment.

Arnaud was able to pull right up and park and help us out of the tuk tuk. There were hardly any people around and we had plenty of time to take photos.

In fact, our preschooler was so interested in watching my husband take photos that he wanted to learn himself.

Near the end of our tour, a large bus tried to turn around on a narrow street and got stuck, blocking the entire street and causing a traffic jam. Arnaud was able to drive the tuk tuk on the sidewalk and we were on our way! Photo credit: Marcie Cheung

As we reached the end of our tour, my husband suggested we get dropped off in Saint Germaine so we could grab an early dinner. Arnaud was quick to pull into an adorable street lined with restaurant options. We bid farewell to Arnaud and our fabulous tuk tuk.

Paris by TukTuk Review

On a warmer day with the top down, the view from the tuk tuk would have been spectacular! It’s truly the best way to see Paris when you are tired of walking or short of time.

When you travel with little kids, it’s important to make the best use of your time. We really felt like this private tour of Paris was a great way to see parts of Paris we wouldn’t have had the stamina to walk to. It was a highlight of our trip.

We never would have found this little park with a view of the Eiffel Tower had it not been for this private tour of Paris! Photo credit: Marcie Cheung

I highly recommend Paris by TukTuk to families with small children who need a break from walking. It’s also a great choice for families with older children who want the experience of riding in a tuk tuk. I mean, just riding around Paris in a tuk tuk is an experience in itself!

Next time we are in Paris, we will try the “Night Tour.” Then, we can see the City of Lights truly lit up!

  • It is free for the first kid under 12 years old!
